Angela Agostiano
Board Member
Angela Agostiano is full professor of Physical Chemistry, at the Department of Chemistry, University of Bari-Italy and Head of the Bari division of the CNR-IPCF (Institute for Physic-Chemical Processes of the National Council of Research).
She is author of more than 220 publications in the fields of nanosized semiconductors for photochemical, environmental, and sensing application, and biomaterials involved in biological energy transduction and molecular recognition. Responsible of several research project at a national and international level, her scientific reputation is also documented by the participation to several national and international evaluation panels and to more than 40 conference as chair or invited speaker.
First women to be appointed as President Elected of SCI (Italian Society of Chemistry), she is member of board of the Italian National Institute of Material Science and Technology (INSTM) and component of the Board of Directors of the District of High Technology (DHITECH).
Agenda:
As SCI President, she intervened on all issues related to major social challenges, developing credible and shared proposals and positions to support the image and culture of chemistry towards civil society and politics, also promoting the drafting of official positions, shared internationally, on chemical weapons. She, at the moment a member of the European Academy of Sciences and of “Accademia delle Scienze” di Torino. In 2017, was awarded with the “Anassilaos Award for Art, Culture, Economics and Sciences”. As delegate of the Rector of the University of Bari to the doctorate politics, she has a strong experience in educational issues and in the development of good practices of job placement.
