Gianna Avellis, ITARSA Chair, Sveva Avveduto, ITARSA board member and Chair of Donne&Scienza, and Lucia Martinelli, International Officer of ITARSA and Chair of EPWS, actively attended the Annual Conference of Donne&Scienza,, moderating some sessions and presenting their papers.
The title of the Conference was “Women and Science: 20 years ago, 20 years forward”, 15-17 November 2023, at Area di Ricerca CNR, Bologna. The recurrence anniversary of 20 years of the Donne&Scienza association brings to reflect on the changes of the past and on the possible challenges of the future of Donne&Scienza.
G.Avellis, leader researcher in ICT at InnovaPuglia SpA, Bari, Italy, presented in the session Fix the Knowledge: Gendered Innovation, a paper on “Artificial Intelligence for Gender Inclusive Science”, discussing the current research on Intelligent Chatbot for driving women and girls in Science, such as STEM disciplines.
L.Martinelli,, senior researcher of MUSE science Museum in Trento, Italy, moderated the session Gender and Science Communication, and made three presentations as follows:
- Advanced Practices in Museums toco-create a new co-inclusive cultural panorama, in the Session Gender and Science Communication
- Understanding where we are to put in another’s man shoes: the play of the privileges wheel.
- Role and history of Donne&Scienza in EPWS (European Platform of Women in Science).
Sveva Avveduto, emeritus researcher of CNR IRPPS, moderated the Session “Women and Science: the association and the European Context”, besides the welcome address, and presented the Keynote as follows:
- Women and Science: 10 points to consider between Italy and Europe.
The Conference ended with the General Assembly of its members, where the new proposals for the future of the association in the next 20 years were discussed.
